Giraffe Centre in Nairobi

$75 / per person

Nairobi is a popular starting point for adventures in Africa, but the city itself doesn’t hold a lot for visitors. However, there are a few things you must do while visiting and the Nairobi Giraffe Center should be at the top of your list.

In the shadow of the city skyline in a quiet suburb of Nairobi, the Leslie-Melville family has been rescuing endangered Rothschild Giraffes since 1979. While in Nairobi we had a chance to visit the Giraffe Center to get up close and personal with these adorable giraffes.

The Nairobi Elephant Orphanage

The Giraffe Centre is open daily from 09:00 am to 5:00 pm including weekends and public holidays. There is an elevated feeding platform that allows you to hand feed the giraffes, which can be an education in itself. You can see, close at hand, how the giraffe uses its long prehensile tongue to strip leaves from the acacia branches. There is a teahouse and curio shop there; also a 2 Km nature trail to walk through.
